A Thousand Words
Too many times, we get obsessed with trying to get the “perfect” portrait of our kids. We drive ourselves crazy trying to get the kids sitting up straight, looking at the camera, smiling (but not smiling TOO much), hair perfect…. in other words, the exact opposite of how they are in real life.
What you end up with is a picture that shows you what they look like, but doesn’t necessarily show you their personality. I had a session recently with a little girl who loved being photographed. Her brother, on the other hand, was much more reserved. Although we got several great images of them together, including some nice smiles, this is the shot of the day.
Talk about a picture being worth a thousand words!!! Even if you have never met these kids, this image gives you a pretty good idea of what they are like. The big sister giggles as her shy brother clings to her arm and cuddles against her shoulder. It’s images like this that make my job so much fun!

Oh, Larry, you made me smile. I so appreciate everything you said about the kids. I even got emontional, because everything you said was so true. Aren’t these kids so amazing?! They never cease to amaze us - we just love them so much.
I love the work you do and all the effort you put into taking the pictures and all the patience you have. And I have to say, you are just so kind and the nicest man. I appreciate you and your work so very much.
Thank you again.
