Sandra's Bracelet

"Sandra's Bracelet"

Here is the latest addition to my ONE Series.  This one features the incredible Sandra Pearce with her very special bracelet.  You are going to love this one.  Here is the story in Sandra's words:

***

The question   .  .  .  What would you take from your home if you only had one choice and one second to decide?  My bracelet of my growing up family, two brothers and one sister.

In my day, the first thing added after your birth was a wristband with ceramic letter beads not a plastic band.  I am not sure how I collected them as a young child, of maybe 10, but I did.  Over the years of moving, multiple times, I always kept the tiny bracelets safe and secure.

As an adult I thought it would be nice to be able to see and enjoy my family bracelet.  I had already lost my two brothers, one at 17 and the other at 50.  I took my three little bracelets to a local jeweler to make me an adult bracelet.  I didn’t hear anything, so I checked back.  The jeweler could not find them.

After much searching, he had put them on top of the safe and was going to later put them in when he opened the safe but failed to remember.  I immediately retrieved my bracelets and took them to another jeweler who made me my family bracelet.

The oldest pieces are 82  years old.  I had a “B” put on for my last brother since they had started using plastic by his birth.  My grandchildren have grown up knowing my family bracelet history and each of them would like to have it one day.  I wear it to the most important occasions in my life and always feel that my first family is there with me. When I travel it stays at home locked in our safe.
